Vicky Lynn Gribble

Vicky Gribble, 58, of Waynesville, died unexpectedly on January 2, 2024. Vicky was born April 8, 1965 in Waynesville. She lived in Charlotte, NC and Clearwater. Fl. during her early years, and returned to Waynesville and graduated from Tuscola High School. She continued her education at Western Carolina University, graduating with a BS degree in nursing. Vicky used her nursing skills at children's hospitals in New Orleans, and in Atlanta, Ga. While in Atlanta, Vicky attended Georgia State University and obtained her Juris Doctor degree, and worked at Legal Aid.

Vicky returned to Waynesville and began providing home health services to patients throughout the western counties. For the past ten years, Vicky has been working at Mountain Projects helping clients secure health insurance. In addition, Vicky was instrumental in establishing the food pantry at Grace Church, where she was a member of Daughters of the King.

Vicky spent her professional career dedicated to helping others, whether through extending medical care or advocating on behalf of those in need.

Vicky was predeceased by her parents, Ron and Betty Mathis Gribble, uncles Doyle and Leroy Mathis, an aunt Mildred Mathis. She is survived by cousins Debbie Caldwell, Melanie Cutshaw, Sherry Green, Kristi York Wooten, Alan York, and aunts Eva Mathis, Bobbie Gribble, Tempie Gribble, Linda York, and an uncle Michael Gribble.

A memorial service for Vicky is planned on April 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Grace Church, 394 N. Haywood Street, Waynesville, N.C. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Donations may be made to Grace Church, or Mountain Projects Inc., 2177 Asheville Road, Waynesville, N.C.
