Margaret Josephine Myers Nicholas

Waynesville-Margaret Myers Nicholas, 89, died on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. Margaret was born in Buncombe County on July 9, 1927, to the late William and Josephine (Josie) Myers. Margaret was retired from teaching school at Tuscola High School. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and was a huge sports fan; especially the Tar Heels, Braves and Panthers. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her brothers, Rex, Richard, Billy, Paul and Max Myers; and her sister, Jennylou Myers Ingle. Margaret is survived by her husband of 69 years, James Nicholas; her daughters, Linda Johnson and Susan Nicholas; a sister, Mary Catherine Myers Roberts; her grandchildren, Chris Johnson and Megan Johnson; and her great-granddaughter, Brynn Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 14, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
