Jason Eugene Moody

Jason Eugene Moody, age 57, of Waynesville, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Mission Hospital. Jason was born in Haywood County on May 5, 1966, to the late Charles and Shirley Sheehan Moody.

Jason was the Captain of the Maggie Valley Fire and Rescue, where he served honorably for 37 years. He retired as the Captain of the Maggie Valley Police Department after 28 years of service. Jason served as the chairman of the board of the Maggie Valley Sanitary District. He also worked on and off for the Cataloochee Ski Area and was the manager of Tony's Tube World.

Jason is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Tyla Conner Moody; daughter, Madison Moody; brother, Mac Moody (Sharon); nieces and nephew, Destiny, Gladys Ann, and Charles; mother-in-law, Zeata Ruff; and father-in-law, Scott Conner; other family members, Tracy Conner, Debbie Conner, Kayla Lyons, Travis Conner, Kim Conner, Beau Conner, Kirby Conner, and Kaden Conner; and his first and forever friend, Scott Sutton.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 4, at Calvary Road Baptist Church with the Reverend David Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maggie Valley fire & rescue department or St. Jude children's hospital.
