Georgia Lee Worden Jackson, age 84, of Brevard, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023. She was born on September 24, 1939, in Mount Pleasant, MI to late George and Antoinette Slama Worden.
Georgia was “just a farm girl” from Michigan who loved her simple and fulfilling life with the man she adored for 61 years. The earlier years of retirement centered around summers with grandkids, renovating houses and making decorative pillows and throws to sell in her shop. She was a political activist both in marches and armchair and was never shy with her positions. However, she is most known for her flowers. Often referred to as the Calla (Lilly) lady, you would usually find her in the gardens (often followed by their two dogs Sophie and Calla) tending to flowers or giving them away by the armfuls. She will be missed by friends, loved ones and the strangers that drove by a house with 2 giant cast iron chickens and a sign announcing callas for free or cheap and ended up chatting for an hour over a cup of coffee on the porch. Georgia had lived in Brevard NC since 1994 and in Grand Blanc MI prior.
In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her son, Alan Jackson.
Georgia is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Dennis Jackson; sister, Barbara Maki; daughter, Jacklyn Beckwith (Robert); son Keith Jackson; and numerous grandkids.
There will be no immediate services either in NC or MI.
If you desire to give, in lieu of any flowers the family would suggest St Judes Childrens Hospital (this was an especially important organization having lost her son at the age of two) at https://www.stjude.org/ or locally in Brevard, The Bread of Life at https://www.breadoflifetc.org/
Lastly, simply find someone who needs help and help them anyway you can.
