He was born January 10, 1943 in Lowber, PA, a son of the late George Mihalko and Mary Zowada Mihalko Steadman.
He was a graduate of Sewickley High School in Herminie, PA.
On September 12, 1964 he married his wife of 49 years, Janet Lynn Mihalko, who survives.
Mr. Mihalko was a shift foreman at Emerald Mine in Waynesburg from 1976 until his retirement in 2004. He had also worked for Consolidation Coal Company in the Montour No. 10 Mine.
He lived in Waynesburg since 1990 and was a former resident of Hundred, WV, and Lowber, PA.
Mr. Mihalko was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church in Waynesburg where he served as a Deacon. He loved spending time with his wife and family and serving his church. His also enjoyed playing horseshoes and traveling. He had a special talent for cooking and baking.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Ronald R. Mihalko and daughter-in-law, Christine of Forst, Germany; a daughter Lori L. Settle and son-in-law, Christopher of Merrillville, IN; 8 grandchildren, Jasmin and Ryan C. Mihalko, Theresa, Houston, Brandon, Clifton, Rebekah, and Preston Settle; a sister, Cynthia Mihalko Ciarolla of North Huntingdon; a brother, John Mihalko of Washington; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Deceased are three brothers, Edward, Robert, and Gene Mihalko.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, at Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High St., Waynesburg. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 am, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the Landmark Baptist Church, 176 North Porter St, Waynesburg, where services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Arnold Watts officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township.
