Michael Ross Morris of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania entered Heaven surrounded by loved ones at Washington Health System on September 30th, 2023. He was 80 years old. Mike was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Sandy and three daughters; Emily (Joel) Blosser, Amy (Mark) Phillips, and Michael (Mike) Sormanti as well as a grandson, Miles Blosser.
Mike spent his whole life in Greene County and was proud of it. He was born at home on the family farm in Waynesburg on February 7th, 1943. He was known for his strong work ethic, which he applied to his career at Sun Chevrolet as a Parts Manager until he retired. He discovered a love for golf in his 50's, and spent many Saturdays practicing his swing and his swear words at Rohanna’s Golf Course, which inspired his daughters to never stop learning new things.
Mike was also a talented musician who taught himself to play the bass guitar. He and his brothers Donovan and Shane toured as The Morris Bros. Band. Then Mike played stints with Country Cookin’ and Sweet Creek. After retiring from professional gigs, he continued to bless his fellow congregants as a member of the Oak View United Methodist Church Praise Team.
Mike loved Merle Haggard, the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and his cat Fleury. Most of all though, he loved his family — especially his wife, “Boog” who he was married to for 55 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold “Ace” Morris, mother Dorothy May Morris, brother Donovan “H.D.” Morris, and brother Shane Austin Morris. He adored his sisters Dena Shultz and Terry Orrahood both of Waynesburg. He was a beloved brother-in-law to Patricia Hougland, Sharon (David) Knisely, Karen (David) Bosworth, Robin (Ron) Rose, Sam (Michelle) Simpson and Bob (Joyce) Simpson, all of Waynesburg. His family also extended to many cousins, nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, October 10th at 11am at Oak View United Methodist Church in Waynesburg. All friends and family are welcome. Lunch will be served.
