He was born February 24, 1941 in Connellsville, a son on the late John J. and Loretta Miller Rock.
Jack was a graduate of Waynesburg Central High School; attended Waynesburg College, now Waynesburg University; and the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and Cuban Missile Crisis.
Jack was a trooper with the Pennsylvania State Police and retired after 27 years of service. He also served on the State Police scuba team for 17 years.
He was a member of St. Ann Church of St. Matthias Parish.
Jack was a member and past president (1992) of the Waynesburg Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow; a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, Council #12703 St. Ann; Waynesburg Masonic Lodge #153; Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #461; Waynesburg Sportsman's Club; Laurel Valley Corvette Club; and the Ralph K. Bell Bird Club.
He enjoyed golfing, sailing, shooting Sporting Clays and traveling (domestic and abroad).
Jack was married to and survived by his wives, Annette Schneider, Karen Mering Hemer; and on August 5, 2000 he married Margaret Edmiston Caldwell Rock.
Also surviving are a daughter, Suzanne Loretta Rock Schneider Griggs Nelson (Curtis Nelson); grandchildren, Katie Lynn Griggs Nelson and Taylor Jay Nelson; step-daughters, Suzanne Hemer (Tony Pascuzzo) and Katherine R. Caldwell, MD (Aaron M. Engebreth).; step-grandchildren, Daphne C. Engebreth, Cora V. Engebreth and Leo S. Engebreth.
Friends will be received on Monday, March 4, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Behm Funeral Homes, Inc., 182 W. High St, Waynesburg, PA 15370. A blessing service will occur Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 10:30 AM, in the Behm Funeral Home, 182 W. High St, Waynesburg, PA 15370, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St Ann Catholic Church, 232 E High St, Waynesburg, PA 15370, with Fr. J. Francis Frazer officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, 1003 Jefferson Rd., Waynesburg, PA 15370. Military Honors will be accorded by the US Air Force and the Greene County Honor Guard.
