 Obituario de Randall Otis
Randall Joseph Otis, 61, of Waynesboro, passed away on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024 at the Hospice of the Piedmont Acute Care Center in Charlottesville. Randall was born on October 28th, 1962 to Loretta (Gosselin) and John Henry Otis. He worked for the UVA Healthcare System for nearly 40 years in multiple jobs and worked for a time as a massage therapist. In his spare time, Randall enjoyed hiking, gardening, reading, and studying history. He was endlessly curious about the world around him and was a talented watercolor artist, and musician, playing the flute. He was a member at the Shenandoah Valley Art Center, where he developed many lasting friendships. Randall was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Otis, and a sister, Laura Ann Otis. Randall is survived by his mother, Loretta Ann Otis; siblings, Rob Otis and wife Maree, Patricia Alechko and husband Michael, Ron Otis, Nancy Shope and husband Doug, and Richard Otis and wife Kathy. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Damien Otis, Rebeka Otis, Scott Bratcher, Sara Hartman, Josiah Shope, Chris Alechko, Laura Hall, Danny Shope, Timothy Otis, Katie Elizabeth, Tamara Walker, Jimi Henderson; and his significant other and “partner in life” Deborah Uttaro. In addition, Randall is survived by many valued friends and past coworkers, especially Marianne and George Hughes, as well as the medical teams that helped him along the way, whom he considered family. In 2019, Randall was diagnosed with ILD and successfully came through a double lung transplant in 2020. He will be remembered by everyone who knew him as a tough, resilient, authentic, kind and genuine person, who always had a sense of humor and never complained. The family would like to acknowledge the friendship and loving care of the Lung Transplant Team at UVA, as well as the staff and Doctors at the Hospice of the Piedmont Acute Care Center in Charlottesville. A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, September 21st, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Shenandoah Valley Arts Center, located at 126 S. Wayne Ave, Waynesboro, VA. Any Memorial donations may be given to the Shenandoah Valley Art Center in Randall’s memory.
