Mary “Pat” Graves, 89, of Nellysford, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
She was born May 11, 1933, a daughter of the late Clark Hampton Dodd Sr., and Russie Virginia Farrar Dodd.
Pat was a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Afton. She graduated from Watson’s Beauty School at the age of 40 and operated Valley Hairdresser in Nellysford, Virginia for over 20 years. She played the piano and organ at Beech Grove Christian Church for many years. She was a wonderful stay at home mom and enjoyed sewing and reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Leslie Graves, Jr.; brother, Clark H. Dodd, Jr., and a sister, Genevieve Floyd.
Survivors include a son, G. Glenn Fields, Jr. and wife Linda; daughters, Kathy Hughes and husband Calvin, Cindy Thompson and husband J. L.; brother, Dale Lee Dodd and wife Carolyn; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Dodd; a step-daughter, Susie Adams; nine grandchildren, Keith Almarode, Cindy Sheets, Chrissy Bruce, Kevin Almarode, Jennifer Rowe, Michele Hughes, Natalie Faulk, John Glenn Thompson, Phillip Thompson; and 19 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Hebron Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be John Glenn Thompson, Phillip Thompson, Glenn Thompson, J. P. Thompson, Matthew Harris and Noah Rowe.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
