He was born May 7, 1952 in Staunton, Va., a son of the late Marshal Edward, Sr. and Mary (Ruebush) Hyden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine H. Campbell; brothers-in-law Ronnie R. Campbell and David MacKinnon, Sr.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Janet (Wilmoth); brother, Kenneth L. Hyden and wife Beverly; son, Michael Murray and wife Carissa; daughters, Beth Painter and husband Clifton, Heather Glass and husband Jeremy; sisters-in-law, Joyce W. MacKinnon, Ellen H. Campbell; brother-in-law, Brian D. Wilmoth and wife Katherine; grandchildren, Raya and Owen Painter, Oestara, Zephyr and Griffin Murray, Kamryn Diane Glass, as well as several nieces, nephews and longtime friend Curtis Thomas.
Eddie served the city of Waynesboro as a police officer, lifetime member of the Waynesboro Rescue Squad and Augusta Ambulance non emergency services.
He served as a Supervisor at Waynesboro Emergency Operations Center (911) where he was known for his distinct voice.
He loved his family deeply and always had a hug for them and was ready to help in any way. He especially liked to tell stories to make you laugh.
He was an avid Redskins football fan and loved living in the Blue Ridge Mountains. He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School.
Eddie fought heart disease for 25 years to which he succumbed.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Stuarts Draft with Pastors David Vaughn and Paul F. Glovier officiating.
