He was born in Waynesboro on April 25, 1947, a son of the late Francis Weldon and Edith Adelaide (Fitzgerald) Thompson.
Larry was a member of the graduating class of 1965 from Waynesboro High School and served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the Waynesboro DuPont Company after 43 years of service and was a member of Bridge Christian Church. He loved all sports, having been an avid softball player, bowler and number one fan of his sons, and was inducted into the Shenandoah Valley Bowlers Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa (Wagner) Thompson; sons, Jay Thompson and wife, Mary, and Adam Thompson; sister, Cindy Simpson and husband, George; and granddaughter, Sadie Mae Thompson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Bridge Christian Church, 1275 Goose Creek Rd., Fishersville.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Road, Waynesboro followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. at Bridge Christian Church with Pastor Todd Brown and Pastor Stacey Burkholder officiating.
