Jennings Lee Kerns

Jennings Lee Kerns, 75, of Waynesboro, passed away on Friday morning, January 25, 2013, at his residence. He was born on December 29, 1937, in Rockingham County, a son of the late Alvan R. and Ethel Reedy Kerns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Camilla Mitchell and a brother, Reginald L. Kerns. Jennings was a member of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren and retired in 1991 from the Waynesboro DuPont plant after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Staunton Eagles Aerie 680, Waynesboro Elks No. 2270 and Waynesboro Moose No. 1309. Jennings enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his camp. He is survived by his wife, Dolores "Dee" Kerns; daughter, Tonya R. Kerns-Eimer and husband, Barry, of Roseville, California; a stepdaughter, Angela Craig and husband, Chris, of Waynesboro; a grandchild, Alyssa Madison-Eimer; step granddaughter, Laura Craig-Sims; step grandson, Joshua Craig; two sisters, MaryAnn Trent of Roanoke and Josie M. Neff of Dayton, Virginia; one brother, R. E. "Buck" Kerns of Dayton; nine nieces, Gale, Wrenda, Ginger, Debbie, Kathy, Judy, Vicky, Rhonda and Kimberly; and four nephews, Wesley, Jeremy, Nathan and Jonathan. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with the Reverend Todd Crowder officiating. Waynesboro Elks Lodge No. 2270 will conduct a service in the chapel following the funeral service. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jim Wills, Donnie Bryan, Calvin Clements, Mike Cromer, George Cromer and Lee Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Showalter, Jerry Conner, Bobby Gabler, Dennis Kerns, Virgil Robinson, and Buddy Truslow.
