James Richard “Rich” Love, 60, of Orange passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024 at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville. Born July 12, 1964 in Virginia, he was a son of the late Jasper William and Lou Leotta Bell (Hopkins) Love. On December 18, 2011 he married Sarah Jane Tingler. The two shared 20 wonderful years together. Rich was employed with the Department of Defense for 38 years and specifically worked for NGIC for 26 of those years as an IT Ops Specialist. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the Staunton AMVETS Post #511. Rich was also a member of the Waynesboro Moose Lodge #1309, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Waynesboro #4129, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Culpeper #4551. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, enjoyed throwing darts or playing a round of golf with friends, watching Christmas movies, and most importantly taking care of his family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, James R. Love, II and Damian Tingler; sister, Gladys Thompson; and brother-in-law, Luther Tingler. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Jane Love of Orange, VA; children, Heather Love of Rock Hill, SC, Brandon Austin Love and wife, Jennifer, of Stuarts Draft, Serenity Love of Fork Union, VA, and Aliyah Durrette of Orange, VA; grandchildren, James C. Love, Declan Love, Isaiah Spradlin, Ka’Leigh Love, Austin Love and several others; siblings, Elizabeth Wampler and husband, Jeff, of Hermitage, William Love and wife, Susie, of Stuarts Draft, Blanche Smith of Crimora, Brenda Eaton and husband, Bobby, of Farmington, ME, Hazel Montgomery and husband, Jim, of Crimora, John Love and wife, Annette of Waynesboro, Jackie Mae Smith and husband, Buddy, of GA, Douglas Love of Stuarts Draft, Jasper Love of Wytheville, VA, Joseph Love and wife, Shannon, of Waynesboro, and Sue Guy and husband, Mike, of Bristol, TN; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro. A celebration of life service will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at the Waynesboro Moose Lodge #1309, 481 Hopeman Parkway, Waynesboro, VA. The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to Rich’s work family at NGIC and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Culpeper #4551 for all of their love, care, and support through Rich’s illness.
