Elizabeth Sue (Bond) Barnes, 66, of Waynesboro peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at her home. Born August 2, 1955 in Richmond, Va, she was the daughter of the late William Rhea Bond, Jr. and Alice Mae (Lane) Bond. Elizabeth was employed with the University of Virginia Medical Center where she worked as a medical operator for over 20 years. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Greenwood. Elizabeth was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had a love for history, reading, learning, cooking and baking. Her most favorite thing to do was to spend time with her grandchildren whom she adored, her family and her cats. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and her generous ways. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Lula Mae Lane; and her beloved dogs, Buddy, Barney, Wiggy and Miss Daisey. Survivors include her three daughters, Jennifer Martin of Fork Union, Va, Lisa Spencer (Markus) of Palmyra, Va, and Marianne Crowley (Jake) of West Jordan, UT; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brothers, William Bond, III (Tracy) of Madison, Va, James Bond (Barbara) of Schuyler, Va, and Graham Bond (Mary Alice) of Charlottesville, Va; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Church of Our Savior, 1165 Rio Road East, Charlottesville, VA 22901. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required. There will be no formal viewing. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center, 1001 Mt. Torrey Road, Lyndhurst, VA 22952. Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro.
