Donald Richard Kamienski, 81, of Waynesboro, passed away on November 22, 2018, at his residence.
Born October 7, 1937, in Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Edward and Jenny (Kowalczyk) Kamienski.
Donald graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in textiles and technology, with a full scholarship.
On September 9, 1961, he married the former Judy Sylvia.
Don worked for different textile companies through the years in sales. Wayne-Tex brought him to Waynesboro in 1979 where he began international sales in different countries, Australia being his favorite. His last job before retiring in 2001 was with a privately-owned company in Ohio where he sold industrial fabrics, traveling from Maine to Florida. He was loved and respected by his customers, as he treated each one personally, learning about them, their families and their interests.
Don loved fishing and gardening. Roses were his favorite and for many years nurtured them and had dozens of roses at one cutting. He loved to fish at the Outer Banks and Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts and in 1996 he floated down the Colorado River for seven days on a raft. His favorite thing was to see the sun rise on the ocean as he fished from the shore.
Don was family oriented and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family trips to Outer Banks and Cape Cod were always special. Woodworking was one of his favorite hobbies, as he made many decorative pieces for family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Judith S. Kamienski; son, David Kamienski and wife, Debbie of Charlottesville; daughters, Jennifer Kamienski Jones and husband, Richard Jones of Lexington, NC and Sharon Kamienski Gouge and husband, Bob of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Kati Jones Maas and husband, Jonathan, Meghan Jones, Luke Jones and wife, Brittany, Emily Jones, Nick Kamienski, Jess Kamienski, Josiah Gouge and Lauren Gouge; great grandchildren, J. Tucker Maas and Claire Maas.
Following cremation, a funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018 at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, 300 Maple Ave., Waynesboro, with Rev. Rolo B. Castillo officiating.
