Danny Vernon Hall

Danny Vernon Hall, 77, of Waynesboro, VA passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 surrounded by his immediate family as well as his sister from California. Danny was born January 2, 1945 in Anderson, Indiana to Kenneth F. Hall and Betty J. Hall. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his favorite uncle, Paul Farley and a special friend, Jack Wine. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Darlene Swift Hall, and daughters, Debra Hall Ashby (Keith) of Surfside Beach, SC and LaDena Hall McCann (Steve) of Stuarts Draft, VA. Danny was the proud grandfather of Cameron and Justin Ashby and Zach and Samuel Knott. He is also survived by his sister, Paula Carter of CA and brother-in-law Harold Tandy of AZ. Danny graduated from Escondido High School, Escondido, CA (Class of 1964) and attended East Los Angeles College. He was a surveyor with Southern Pacific Transportation Company (Railway) based out of Los Angeles. Later after moving to Augusta County, VA in 1975, he was a mechanical designer with Brown and Root and other contractors for E. I. Dupont. His love for fishing and the great outdoors was very evident and he loved to cast a fly line from his back yard on the South River. One of his favorite memories was fishing with his buddies on the Shenandoah River. He and his wife, after retiring, loved to travel in their motorhome, especially to the South Carolina beaches. His greatest love however was serving his Lord. Danny was a proud member of Wayne Hills Baptist Church (WHBC), Waynesboro, VA and he served in the capacity of an elder and numerous times, served as member and chairman of the Deacon Body. His other greatest love was teaching an adult Sunday School Class. Danny and his wife Darlene started the first co-ed adult Sunday School Class at WHBC. He had loved serving as building chairman for WHBC and oversaw the new construction of its new facility from Waynesboro to Augusta County. After work and on a daily basis, he would travel to the construction site to check with the construction supervisors and subs for the daily progress of the construction progress. A life celebration will be conducted at Wayne Hills Baptist Church, 877 Ladd Road, Waynesboro, VA on Thursday, October 6. Family visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the Celebration Service will be at noon with Dr. Jamie McClanahan and Dr. Dan Gregg officiating. A private burial will be at a later date. Pallbearers will be special friends Eddie Burkholder and Dewitt Frazier, sons-in-law Keith Ashby and Steve McCann and grandsons Zach Knott and Justin Ashby. Memorials may be given to Wayne Hills Baptist Church (Deacons Benevolence Fund). The family of Danny V. Hall wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Augusta Health, especially its Emergency Room, ICU and Palliative Care nurses and doctors. Special thanks to Joseph D. Pfeifer, Matthew Hoy, PA, Susanna Lynch, MD and the wonderful nurses and CNAs that attended to him with much love and compassion.
