Born February 20, 1928 in Batesville, she was the daughter of the late Larcy Elmer and Virginia Eloise (Faris) Gray.
Catherine was a loving wife and caring mother. When her husband was still alive, she was very active with him in church activities at both Mt. Ed and Hebron Baptist churches. She spent her years after retirement enjoying time with her friends and family. She especially enjoyed meeting friends for breakfast and just chatting. She cared for her family and always took a special interest in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James H. “Billy” Arnold, II; two brothers, A. Hamilton Gray and Charlie Austin Gray.
Survivors include her two loving children, Jim Arnold and wife, Joyce of Afton and Linda Arnold Powley and husband, Andy of Crozet; grandchildren, J.C. Arnold and wife, Lyna, Lorie Kestner and husband, Kenneth, Christie Rieche and husband, Steve and Jeremy Webber and wife, Colleen; great-grandchildren, Julie, Ashlyn, Jay, Hunter, Logan and Caleb; great great-granddaughter, McKenzie; sister, Audrey Gray of Crozet; sister-in-law, Martha Gray of Afton; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Hebron Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Western Albemarle Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 188, Crozet, VA 22932.
