He was born September 5, 1947 in Elkton, a son of the late Bennie Clinton, Sr. and Iola Breeden Cook.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a special aunt and uncle, Oscar and Ruth Warren of Shenandoah.
Bennie proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict from November 1966 thru 1968. He retired from Reynolds Metal Co. in 2000.
He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and was very active with amateur radios.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Cook of 28 years; his two sons, Brian Cook (Sherry), Michael Cook (Jenna); step-son, Keith Rea (Tammy); grandchildren, Peyton Cook, Nathaniel Cook, Skye Morales; step- grandchildren, Carley Bell, Dalton Rea and one step great- grandchild, Gwennie Bell.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Larry Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park with military rites provided by the United States Army Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the funeral home.
