Mark was born in Corning, NY on August 13th, 1956, the son of Andrew T. and Carol A. Novak. Mark held a degree in Agriculture Agronomics and owned and operated his family’s 3rd generation farm in the Town of Tyrone. In his earlier years of farming, Mark milked dairy cows and in his later and most recent years he raised beef and hogs. Mark married his wife, Dawn Maria Flynn at the Catholic Church in Bradford, NY on July 12, 1975. He and Dawn were foster parents for Schuyler County DSS for many years and won an Outstanding Foster Parent Award. Mark enjoyed his large family including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, children, grandchildren and in-laws. Anyone that had the pleasure to meet Mark Novak was accepted and realized what a truly magnificent person he was.
Mark is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dawn M. Novak; mother, Carol A. Novak of Ocklawaha, FL; brother, Jon Robin (Rita Schenck) Sullivan of Watkins Glen; sister, Tracy Anne (Drew) Diel of Ocala, FL.; children, Jason (Theresa) Novak of Beaver Dams, Beth (Aaron Hade) Novak of Corning, Matthew ‘Chewy’ (Jamie Ketter) Novak of Watkins Glen; grandchildren; Larissia Hall of Keuka Park, Andrew Novak III of Addison, Brayden and Tanner Hade of Corning, Nickolas and Travy Novak of Beaver Dams, Luca Hoffman of Watkins Glen, and Cammi McCarty of Watkins Glen; his 2nd cousin, Michael (Lisa McKee) Novak of Montour Falls; niece, Sundae (Sean) Hein of Lampassas Texas; In-laws Rich and Diane Yeoman of Dundee NY,Mary and Ron Wesche of Lampassas TX, Marcia and Patrick Ostrander of Wellington, KS, Dean and Vicki Flynn of Hammondsport NY, Jeff and Terry Foster of Palm Bay FL; as well as, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and foster children.
Mark was predeceased by his father, Andrew T. Novak; his son, Joseph Frank Novak on April 13, 1980; and grandparents, Bertha Rook of Dansville and Andrew and Agnes Novak of Watkins Glen.
Friends and family may call from 2 pm to 4pm on Saturday, March 25th, 2017 at the Haughey Wood Funeral Home, 119 5th St., Watkins Glen, NY 14891 where a memorial service will follow at 4pm.
