Robert A. Bouthot

Waterville – Robert A. Bouthot of Belgrade Rd., Oakland, Maine died very peacefully at a local hospital on Friday Evening April 26, 2013 after a long illness. Family was at his bedside when he passed away. He was born in Winslow, June 16, 1926 the son of Arthur and Josephine Bouthot.

Robert (Bob) was predeceased by his parents Arthur J. and Josephine (Boucher) Bouthot; two brothers Gerard and Fernand (Fritz) Bouthot, and one sister Constance Bouthot. Bob was married to his beloved Gloria Hope Ruel who passed away on February 12, 1977. He is survived by his daughter Connie Grubbs and husband Larry; son Arthur Bouthot and wife Susan, daughter Carol Leclair and husband Mike, daughter Jean Sturtevant and several nieces and nephews.

He was also blessed with 9 grandchildren; Kimberly Weed, Shelly Pomerleau, Robert and Jasmine Bouthot, Michael, Brian, Leo and Timmy Leclair and Tommy Sturtevant. He also has 10 great grandchildren.

Bob graduated from Winslow High School on June 9, 1944 and was a member of the WHS Marching Band. Bob was also a World War II U.S. Army Veteran serving from November 8, 1944 to August 19, 1946. He achieved the rank of Tec 4. He served with the 36th Field Artillery Group and finished in the 175th Army Postal Unit. He was a “life member” of the Waterville American Legion Bourque-Lanigan Post #5 for 67 years.

Bob worked as the Assistant Manager\Manager for the A&P Grocery Store for over 25 years, owned and operated his own grocery store and meat market “Bob’s Market” on West St. in Waterville, and worked at plant nurseries after moving to Florida in 1974. He moved back to the Central Maine area in 1993.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm on Monday, April 29 at the Veilleux Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 Am Tuesday April 30th at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Monument St. in Winslow. Interment will follow at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville.
