Born in Tracadie Cross, Prince Edward Island, Canada December 1, 1931, she was a loving daughter of John James and Millicent (Ready) McInnis.
Mary met her husband John Pople at the Royal Canadien Policeman's Ball on a blind date in Halifax where he was stationed in the Navy. She graduated from Union College in PEI and later moved to Kingston, Ontario where John lived. They were married in May 16,1953 and moved to Waterville, ME in 1956. There she was employed at the architectural firm of Driever and Smith and later as a secretary in the Administration offices at Colby College.
Mary was a devoted, wife, mother and homemaker who loved to cook and entertain.
Family, friends and music were Mary's passions, with many legendary gatherings at her home. Her cooking was loved by all and her friends were very important to her. She enjoyed weekend excursions to the ocean.
She is survived by her most loving husband of 61 years, John Pople of Oakland, and her daughters, Karen Godfrey and her husband Peter of Windham and Kathy McGee of Fairfield and her partner, Gary Duquette.
Mary's world was her grandchildren, Micah Godfrey and Kristen Pride of Raymond, Kaitlyn Godfrey of Windham, Heather Ladderbush and her husband Brian of Auburn, Jamie McGee of Fairfield, Michalea McGee of Fairfield and Haley McGee of Bangor, and her great-grandchildren, Aiesha, Landon, Werani, Bryce and Kaiden. Sisters, Sally Larone of St. Catherine, Canada and Eileen Duffy and her husband Richard of Prince Edward Island, Canada along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Donald McKinnon, Molly Thomas and Vincent Gallant.
She is predeceased by her parents, brothers John, Alan and Jimmy McInnis, sisters Ida Crocco, twins Bertha Randall and Catherine Garland, and Millicent O'Reagan.
The family would like to thank the gracious staff members at both Mt. St. Joseph's and at Maine General Medical, many of whom were taken by Mary's infectious humor and charm and visited her on their off days.
