WATERVILLE - Marie A. (LaPlante) Dumont, 95, of Waterville passed away peacefully on Mother's Day, May 10, 2015, at Maine General Medical Center's Alfond Center for Health with her two daughters by her side. Marie was born August 12, 1919 to Joseph and Emercienne LaPlante. She attended Waterville schools and went on to work at Hathaway and later, became a teacher's aid at a local daycare facility. She married Fredrick Lucien Dumont and they shared 43 years of marriage and raised five children together. Marie enjoyed dancing in her younger years and often talked about the wonderful dances she attended with her husband and her sisters. She played card games such as "Go Fish" with her grandchildren and taught them valuable lessons including how to lose gracefully. In her later years, she enjoyed playing beano and making crafts with her friends at Goodreau's Retirement Inn. A devoted Catholic, Marie prayed with her rosary daily asking God to bless her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her loving smile and humble character. Marie is survived by her children: Linda Morrissette of Waterville, Fredrick Dumont and his wife Margaret of Fairfield, Robert Dumont and his wife Tammy of Stratton, John Dumont of Winslow, and Doreen Dumont and her partner Rob Ferguson of Fairfield. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and some special friends. She was predeceased by her mother, father, husband and nine siblings: Juliette Labbe, Louise St. Peter, Yvonne LaPrice, Jeanette Leadbetter, Lionel LaPlante, Arthur LaPlante, Henry LaPlante, Wilfred LaPlante and O'Neil LaPlante, and two granddaughters: Autumn and Destiny. The family wishes to thank the caring owners and staff at Goodreau's Retirement Inn for giving Marie such a beautiful place to call "home", the doctors and nursing staff at MaineGeneral Medical Center's Alfond Center for Health for the exceptional care they gave Marie in the last 10 days of her life and, many friends that prayed for her during her brief illness. There will be a graveside service at the Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery on Civic Center Drive in Augusta, on Thursday May 21st at 9 AM.
