Sidney - Deborah Lee Perry, 60, of Sidney, died unexpectedly on June 30, 2017, at the very end of a family vacation with her husband and daughters. Mrs. Perry, the daughter of Edwin C. Lee and Marilyn J. Lee was born in Rahway, NJ and attended Westbrook High School. She graduated with a BA in Business Education from Thomas College in Waterville and received a Teaching Degree from Plymouth State College.
Debbie and her future husband, Paul R. Perry, grew up in Westbrook, became high school sweethearts and were married 36 years ago at Saint Mary’s Church in Westbrook on December 19th 1981. They went on to live together in Houston, T; Watertown, NY; Weld and Turner, Maine. Mr. and Mrs. Perry have lived for the past 18 years in Sidney, Maine where they raised their two loving daughters, Jennifer and Marilyn.
Debbie has always loved to work with children. She ran her own preschool when she lived in Turner named “Small World” when her daughters were young. She has worked in the school systems most of her career. She previously worked at Laura E. Richards Elementary School in Gardiner and most recently at Litchfield Elementary School as an Ed Tech II. She also worked at the Augusta YMCA daycare and enjoyed working for the Child Watch Program. She was planning to return during her summer break from Litchfield to care for the young children there she loved so dearly.
Debbie loved and adored her family and would host large yearly gatherings at her home to bring everyone together to celebrate holidays and special occasions; the most recent gathering was to celebrate Father’s Day.
She loved the water, especially swimming and boating, she loved scrapbooking and spending time laughing with her daughters and best friends. Debbie also enjoyed time at her husband’s family summer home in Prince Edward Island. Her laugh, energy and warm smile will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, Paul; her two daughters and their husbands: Jennifer Perry Brown and her husband Russell of Waterville; Marilyn Perry Baker and her husband Kris of Clinton; her father Edwin Lee and his companion, Muriel Pinkham of Thomaston; her brother Jeff and his wife Shireen Shahawy of Portland; her best friend who was like a sister, Kathy Polizoti of Sturbridge, MA; her father-in law Richard Perry of Westbrook; her sister-in-law Karen Swain and her partner Gary Snow of Naples; her sister-in-law Christina Davis and her husband Larry of Scarborough; as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and cousins who loved and adored her and she them. She was predeceased by her mother Marilyn Lee and her mother-in-law Dolores Perry.
A time of gathering and reception will be held on Sunday July 9, 2017 from 4 – 7 pm at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street, Waterville, ME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday July 10 at 11:00 am at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 110 Silver Street Waterville. Burial will follow in the Fuller Extension Cemetery, Winthrop Street, Augusta on Monday July 10 at 1:00 pm.
