We are so sad to hear of Bernard’s passing.  I have so many memories of him from his visits Silver Street Tavern in my years behind the bar. A patron that became a true friend, I loved him for his mischievous smile and the twinkle in his eye when he’d thought he got away with something. I can’t begin to tell you how many random pieces of metal whatever I’ve pulled from a tip jar at the end of the night. Always followed by a “Hey girl did ya find what I left ya?” The next time he was in. We’ve had many a conversation over the years, but none made him prouder than his little girl! Brittany he would celebrate your every accomplishment, he’d show soccer photos and talk about your weekend plans. And he was so excited to share that you would be going to college in Farmington.  You are his greatest accomplishment and he let everyone know it. Justin and I send our deepest condolences to all of Bernard’s family. He was one of a kind and will be truly missed.

I am so  saddened to hear of the passing of Bernard He was such a great person and often came by to visit our family on 15 Frawley street in Winslow and always called mom and dad Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Paula and was always polite whenever we had our family gatherings. My thoughts and prayers are with Brittany and the family members of Bernard.

I will always remember Bernie for his storytelling, and for how much he loved his daughter. Brittany was the light of his life and when he talked about her, his face lit up. Rest easy friend. You will be missed. 

Dear Brittany and Family,

Bernie was my best man at my wedding  in 1975.  We shared our military past, rode motorcycles, had many good times at the beaches.  I had to laugh one time when he helped me over to my in-laws farm haying.  We were short handed on help around a fourth of July holiday.  After loading two hay wagons the trailers were staged next to a hay elevator by the barn.  The crew went into the hay mound.  I assigned the crew including Bernie where I wanted them to stand, to efficiently handle the work load.  I went up to stand on a platform of hay where the hay would enter through the roof of the barn.  Bernie said he wanted to work where I was.  I told him it would take a lot of effort because you handle every bale , not every four bale like the other crew would be handling.  I said Bernie, that position will be exhausting, but if you want my job you can have it.  Bernie said I can handle it.  I'm a welder.  I'm an iron man.   As soon as the operation started Bernie found out it was a demanding job handling every bale to a different team member.   Before the first trailer was unloaded Bernie shouted through the roof opening to my father-in-law  to slow down.  My father-in-law could not hear what he was saying  so he kept up the pace.  Again, Bernie this time shouted to stop.  My father-in law pulled the plug on the elevator motor.  Then he asked Bernie what was wrong?  Bernie said there were too many bales that he could not handle on the elevator.  By this time I had reached the platform and asked Bernie to take my place below on the floor of the mound and things would be easier for him.  I kidded Bernie after were finished emptying the wagons, I thought you said you were an iron man.  Bernie could say nothing except laugh about it.
