Anyone who joined the pool, got their picture taken in his office.  He put together ski trips he did not have to do that, he made sure the RBAO had an well he didn’t have to do that - he did so much for the families, kids, athletics , the teen lounge all of it made Ridgefield a much higher quality place to grow up. He did it because it was his calling it seemed effortless for him to manage so much.

My grandfather was the best grandfather anyone could ask for. He shared so many of his childhood and teen memories with me it blew my mind that he could still remember every tiny detail. I would sit and talk with him for hours. I had always felt bad that i had no time to drive to new york to see him but then he came to live with me and my parents for 6 months so i got to make so many memories. I also want to give a huge thank you to the people he had in Washingtonville that would take care of him when we couldn’t. You guys will be considered family to me and my family forever.

Mr Flynn, the closest thing to a father to all the kids in the park in Ridgefield NJ . The fond memories l remember? The bowling league, the ski trips, the baseball games at Yankee stadium and Shea stadium. One time Mr Flynn set up for soccer in the Babe Ruth field and living up the hill I would get up early and go down to the park. This  day I met up with Mr Flynn and another athlete Peter Shea. Nobody seemed to show up for soccer (soccer wasn’t that big back then). With that Mr Flynn challenged me and Pete to a game. 2on1. Well me and Pete were better than good athletes and warned him, but all in fun we played a bit and won a short game. To my amazement a few weeks later I received a championship certificate in the mail. I kept that certificate forever. I’m sure it’s in my basement along with my bowling trophies somewhere as I write this. This is circa 1971. After some time, growing up, getting married, having kids and moving away at least 25 years earlier I had reason to go back to my old area and stopped in a store for a drink. As I was waiting for some cars to pass to cross the street I had a man come up next to me waiting also. As I look over it’s Mr Flynn. I couldn’t be happier to see my friend . And for many years I wanted to tell him what a wonderful person and how much he meant to all me and all the kids in Ridgefield. I finally had the opportunity and did so. I large void had been fulfilled that day. To Mr Flynn’s family, my sincere condolences. You’ve been very lucky to have a man like that in your family, but you must already know that. One of the 3 best men I’ve ever known. My Dad,  Mr Flynn and Pepop Milkie my kids great grandfather. God bless Mr Flynn.

My condolences  go out to the family. He was a wonderful  man  who always had a smile on his face. Now he and his wife are reunited in Heaven. Mr Flynn, may you rest in peace.

Our sincere sympathy to the Flynn family on the passing of your father.  We remember Bill from our years at Milton High School as a very kind and friendly classmate.  May he Rest in Peace.

So sorry about your dad, he was a great guy who was kind to children, especially those with disabilities.  My brother Mikey always had fun at the Ridgefield Recreation Camp that your dad was in charge of.  I will never forget his Boston accent, his cigar and his scotch and water.
