She was born in Knoxville, TN on May 8, 1951 to Willis and Elva (Mennefee) Simmons. Sharon was the wife of Mark M. Carey.

She is survived by her husband, Mark M. Carey and Daughter, Kathleen E. Carey both of Rock Tavern, NY; Stepchildren Michael D. Carey of Montgomery, NY and Christina and her husband, John Saltalamachia of Wallkill, NY; sisters, Judy Lee and husband, Patrick Wheeler and Gloria and her husband, Sheldon Dunham all of Roanoke, VA; mother and father-in-law, John J. and Lorraine E. Carey of Norwich, NY; sister-in-law, Laura Carey and partner, Deborah Whitman of Norwich, NY; Brothers-in-law, John P. Carey of New Paltz, NY and Matthew L. and his wife, Lorraine Carey of Charlotte, NC; best friend, Annette and her husband, Gary Agee of Roanoke, VA and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one sister, Joann King.

Memorial Service will be held from 1-3 p.m., Sunday, November 21 with a Service to follow at 3 p.m. at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home. Cremation is Private.
