Edward L Drahos, 86, of Wappingers Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by barking dogs, the way he wanted it. Edward was born in Tarrytown, New York on May 26, 1936 to Anthony & Julia (Kofka) Drahos. Edward was married to Fanny Galgano on August 30, 1969 of which she predeceased him on July 29, 2000. Edward was one of 8 and pre-deceased brothers Joseph, Sonny and sisters Theresa, Millie and Dorothy.
Edward is survived by his beloved daughter Julia and Bill Holland, devoted grandfather to Emma Halstead, Rosie Halstead and Ava Paradiso. Loving sister Judy Gizzi and brother Frank Drahos, favorite cousin Barbara Piazza, many nieces and nephews but his favorite was Brian Gizzi.
Edward honorably served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. We will always remember his stories of being stationed in Hawaii, stealing pineapples and drinking "Jungle Juice".
He was a life member of Consolidated Engine Company in Tarrytown, N.Y. Where he spent many hours with his dog Sam, who had his own bowl at the bar.
He grew up on the Hudson River and was one of the "River Rats" in his younger days & put his mother through many sleepless nights. He retired from Irvington School district where he was a custodian for over 25 years.
He enjoyed weekends at the Cabin with his friends Jimmy & Loslo. Hunting, fishing and on occasion almost getting something.
He loved doing yard work, mowing the grass and complaining about having to take care of the animals even though he really did love them.
His sense of humor, we will miss greatly and as he would always say:
"What are you people gonna do when I die?" as he would be emptying the garbage, because no one else was ever going to do it. My answer is: I honestly don't know. Love you, Dad.
A celebration of Edward's life will take place on Aug 6th 1:00pm to 6:00pm at Consolidated Engine 177 Sheldon Ave Tarrytown N.Y.
