Ralph Richard Ross of Southwest Washington, DC died September 28, 2013 at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife, Marlene. He attended Doane College in Crete, NE during his freshman year, and later graduated at Oklahoma State University with a BS in civil engineering. Ralph served his country in both the US Navy and US Army. He retired as the Chief of Contracting of the National Capital Region of the National Park Service, where he spent over 40 years in government service. Ralph was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ since 1955. He was an original member of the River Park community in Southwest DC where he and his wife Marlene spent their 42 years of marriage together. He enjoyed traveling with Marlene and meeting friends and family at one of many favorite DC restaurants. A memorial service will be held on October 19, 2013 at 11am at the First Congregational United Church of Christ located, 945 G Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Trust for the National Mall, Attn: Ms. Kate Gordon, 1300 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 370, Washington, DC 20004.
