Franklin Pierce Jones, III, 67, passed peacefully on September 11, 2021, in Washington, D.C. Known by many names including Chip, Jonesy, and Sam, he leaves behind a legacy of laughter and fun.
Sam was a huge sports enthusiast, and enjoyed playing softball and golf. He was an avid Nationals and Redskins fan, as well as anything Duke. Sam enjoyed taking long walks around the City, and was devoted to spending time with his many friends and family.
Sam is survived by his partner, Liza Simpson; mother, Catherine Coates Jones; brother, John Marvin Jones II (Wendy); sister, Mary Catherine Jones Thompson (Jim); three nieces, Kelly Thompson Cordisco (Andrew), Jessie Thompson, and Lyla Jones; and grandniece, Margo Cordisco. He is preceded in death by his father, Franklin Pierce Jones, Jr.
A private burial service will be held, and a Celebration of Life will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
