Edna was born to the late Edward and Mary McKenny on June 15, 1919 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her sister, Ellen Mae passed away in 2012 at the age of 92. Edna graduated (high school) from St. Joseph’s Academy in St. Paul and graduted from Strayer’s Business College. After her children were in school, Edna worked at The Oblates of Mary Immaculate in the Vocations Office with Father McAlear.
She married Paul H. Wagner, June 13, 1944 in Washington DC at St. Martin’s Catholic Church. Edna is survived by three children: Ellen M. Wagner of Washington, DC; Paul H. Wagner, Jr., of Rose Haven, Maryland; and Ann Wagner-Boland of Washington DC. She is also survived by four grandchildren and two devoted grandpups.
Edna was predeceased by her loving husband in 1992.
Edna loved flowers. There was no flower too small or insignificant to her. Her backyard bloomed all spring and summer with peonies, irises, roses, hibiscus, lilies of the valley, and her favorite, lilacs. She loved her grandchildren and she and Paul adored being grandparents. MomMom and Pa went to ball games, swim meets, Eagle Scout ceremonies, tae kwon do tournaments, and many other grandchildren-related events.
Friends and neighbors are invited to attend the burial Mass at 10:00 a.m., at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1029 Monroe Street, NE, Washington DC. In lieu of flowers the family asks that people make donations in support of Alzheimer’s research. Make donations to: Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org)
