Don Chaney, 76, passed away unexpectedly on October 1, 2022. Don was a longtime resident of the Capitol Hill area of Washington, DC, and grew up around Crownsville, Maryland. He had a successful career in the federal government. Don was preceded in death by his longtime partner Billy King who passed away in 2004. Don is survived by his brother-in-law Jeff King of St. Louis, MO, his sister-in-law Julia Husemann of Coatsburg, IL, his sister Mary Lu Lammers of Davidsonville, MD, and his two brothers, Wayne Chaney of Forest Hill, MD and Bill Chaney of Montrose, PA, and their families. Don will be laid to rest at Congressional Cemetery in Washington, DC. He was a beloved and active member of the community and had a wide circle of friends and close neighbors. Don loved his neighborhood and was a tireless advocate for improvements in his local community. In his retirement Don loved dog walking and his beloved tripod rescue dog, Bella. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. In remembrance of Don, donations can be made to the Humane Rescue Alliance of Washington, DC.
