Born in Providence, he was a son of the late William E. and Marion R. (Boyle) Zander.
He was a dispatcher for the Cranston Police Department before starting his career as an on air radio personality in 1971.
Rick Everett was named “one of the best classic rock programmers in the country” by his colleagues and was inducted into the RI Radio Hall of Fame Class of 2014.
During his radio career he worked for several stations including WICE Providence, WNLC New London, CT, WGNG Providence, WPJB (JB-105) Providence for 7 years, WWRX Providence, WQGN (Q-105) New London and WWLI (Lite-105) Providence, WCTK (Cat Country 98.1) New Bedford-Providence, and SNE-WBB (B101) Providence. He was also the Operations Manager for Q-105, Lite-105, Cat Country 98.1, and B-101.
He was the brother of Charles E. Zander and the late Barbara V. Plouff and William E. Zander; uncle of Scott A. Plouff, Susan A. Oakes, Sharon A. Cavanaugh, Robert Zander, David Zander and the late Steven L. Plouff and Jeffrey Zander; great-uncle of several great-nieces and nephews; and great-great uncle of several great-great nieces and nephews. He also leaves several cousins.
His visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the Russell J. Boyle Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Rd, Warwick followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
