Mary Margaret Condry

Mary M. (McGovern) Condry, RN age 93 of South Kingstown, and previously of Rehoboth, MA died on August 2, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Lt. Col. (Ret.) George W. Condry, USAF. Born in the Smith Hill section of Providence, she was the daughter of the late John J. McGovern and Alice G. (Ormond) McGovern.

Mary was an alumni of St. Patrick’s Grammar School, St. Xavier’s Academy, and a 1950 graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing,

Mary retired after 22 years from Roger Williams Medical Center. She was a member of the Adoration Chapel of St. Mary’s/St. James, Charlestown and former member of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary as well as a volunteer for Hope Hospice and South County Hospital.

Mary was the sister of the late Rev. John (Patrick) McGovern, OP and Mrs. Anna Rafferty. She was also the step mother of the late Lynn Belforti.

Mary leaves a nephew, John P. Rafferty (Colleen) of South Carolina and nieces, Maureen Nugent (Vincent) of East Greenwich, Catherine Rafferty Hull (Aloysius) of Charlestown, and Patricia Mellor (John) of Wakefield as well as a step daughter, Anne M. Naisbitt of Newport. She also leaves behind many grand nieces and nephews and a step grandson.

Visitation Tuesday, August 8, 2023 beginning at 10:30 am at Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:30 am. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
