Frances Ann McGovern

She peacefully passed into her eternal life on December 5th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

She attended St. Paul's School in Edgewood and was a graduate of Prout School in Wakefield, Rhode Island.

She was united in Holy Matrimony in St. Paul Church to the love of her life, James Michael McGovern. Their union was blessed with two beautiful sons, James Michael and Joseph Edward.

Frances was employed by New England Telephone, NYNEX and Verizon, helping to implement the 911 system. After retirement, she worked at South County Hospital, and later did Title Work.

Fran, Jim, and their sons spent many years sailing, kayaking, and cycling along the Rhode Island Shores. In their later years, Fran and Jim vacationed in Naples, Florida. Eventually, they moved to Boynton Beach, spending many wonderful years with their beautiful grandchildren Raegan Mae and Logan James, who brought much joy to their lives.

Anyone who spent time with Fran got to enjoy her zest for life, whether it be shopping, dancing, dining out, playing cards, or simply going for a walk.

Fran's love for her Catholic Faith was clear, always putting God first in all she did.

Her beautiful memory will live on through her family; her husband James, her son James McGovern, his wife Elizabeth and their two children Raegan and Logan, and her son Joseph McGovern.

She is also survived by her sisters Maureen O'Donnell, Jane Cannata, Sheila Moffat, Katherine Schiano, and Elizabeth Clarke, her two brothers Frederick McCaughey, and Thomas McCaughey, and many treasured nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Perrino.

Relatives and friends are invited to Fran's Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Church, 30 Warwick Ave, Cranston, RI on December 18th at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
