Gilbert Asoka Jayasuriya, age 74, of Barrington, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024 at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was the loving husband of Manamalage “Pushpa” Emil Sewwandi Fernando, with whom he shared fifty one years of marriage.
Born in Dikwella, Sri Lanka, a son of the late Peter Jayasuriya and Sumana Abeysuriya, he and his family came to the United States in 1991.
Mr. Jayasuriya was an enforcement officer for the Gem Corporation in Sri Lanka for many years and worked several jobs here in America before finally retiring due to illness. Gilbert enjoyed traveling, singing, listening and dancing to music, but he especially loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by: two sons, Wathsala Jayasuriya and his wife Nelushi and Chathuraka Jayasuriya and his wife Sonalya; two grandchildren, Wesley and Ahalya Jayasuriya; four siblings, Ranjith Jayasuriya, Dhammika Ediriwikrama, Kamani Ranasinghe and Hiranthi Jayasuriya and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Swan Point Cemetery in the Chapel of Hope and Memory, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence
