Barbara was the daughter of the late Edward Mello and Bella Amaral Cabral.
Barbara is survived by her children, Thomas “Butch” (Polly) Balzano of Rehoboth, John “Buster” (Jane) Balzano of Bristol and Jennie (Michael) DaSilva of Rehoboth, 8 grandchildren, Thomas Balzano, Cassie Napa, Nicholas Balzano, Stephanie Sousa, John Balzano, Taylor Balzano, Bethanie DaSilva and Mitchell DaSilva, 9 great grandchildren, Joseph Balzano, Andrew Balzano, Charlotte Napa, Stella Balzano, Kyle Sousa, Madison Sousa, Brody Balzano, Josie Balzano and Alaia DaSilva, and 1 great great grandchild, Maeve Sousa.
Barbara was predeceased by her son, Frank (Buzzy) Balzano, and her great grandson, Charles Balzano.
Barbara worked with her husband, John, in their family-owned bus/transportation business until they both retired. Barbara loved reading, scrapbooking, lighthouses and spending time with her family. Barbara carried on the family holiday traditions after her husband passed as she knew it meant so much to him and to the family. Barbara was at every holiday making sure the recipes were prepared exactly as her husband, “Papa”, made them alongside her for decades. The family will continue these traditions for generations to come. She will be missed dearly.
Barbara loved animals. She volunteered at the Bristol Animal Shelter. Those who wish to remember Barbara may consider donating in her honor to the Bristol Animal Shelter.
At Barbara’s wishes, her funeral was private. Barbara was laid to rest with her husband, John, and son, Buzzy.
