It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Carl Riley, a beloved family man and friend, who left this world on February 3rd, 2024. Bill lived a life marked by dedication, perseverance, faith, and generosity, leaving an enduring mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on November 24, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, Bill grew up embodying the values of hard work, perseverance, and compassion. He graduated from Wilbur Wright Highschool in 1957. That next year Bill married the love of his life, Barbara. They were married for 63 years before Barb’s passing in 2021 and may now continue their eternal love story as they reunite in Heaven.
Bill was a dedicated man, to his work, his faith, and to his family. Directly out of high school, Bill began a career with Detroit Edison that lasted 42 years until his retirement in 1999.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, Bill poured his heart into his family. His devotion and generosity could always be counted on. Bill was a constant source of support, offering guidance, wisdom, and unconditional love to those fortunate enough to call him family.
Outside of his family and professional pursuits, Bill was a golf enthusiast, finding joy in being out on the course any chance he had alongside his favorite, long-time golf partners, Billy and Keith. Bill was also a proud and committed member of Parkside Community Church (Eastlawn Missionary Church) for much of his life where he served as an Usher. Bill and Barb enjoyed many years of traveling, whether that was with family or their life-long best friends Bonnie and Keith Schreck.
Bill leaves behind a loving family: his daughter, Patricia Fisher and his son-in-law, Michael Fisher; grandchildren, Kristina (Alberto) Todaro, Carolyn (Kevin) Hatzenbuhler, and Michael (Scott) Fisher; and great-grandchildren, Alexia (Dominic), Lauren, and Nathan. He also leaves behind his dear sister, Joyce Bone and her husband, Jerry, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Bill was greeted in Heaven by his parents, William and Freda Riley; his beloved wife, Barbara Riley; his son, Craig Riley; and his sister, Erna Murphy and her husband Chuck.
Visitation for Bill will be held on Thursday, February 8th from 3:30-8pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, MI 48093. A Funeral Service by Rev. Thomas Knight will be held Friday at 12:30pm following an 11:30am viewing. Please join the family for a lunch after the service.
May Bill's soul find eternal peace, and may those who grieve find solace in the memories of a life well-lived.
