Timothy Glennon Connors

Timothy Glennon Connors, age 54, died suddenly Saturday, May 23, 2015 from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident in Rochester, Michigan. Timothy was born March 5, 1961 at St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Robert Glennon Connors and the late Virginia Lee (nee: Landgraf) Connors."Tim", as everyone knew him, was raised on the eastside, primarily in Grosse Pointe. He attended Grosse Pointe South High School and later moved over to Grosse Pointe North High School where he graduated with the class of 1979. Tim matriculated on to the University of Michigan, but eventually found his way at Michigan State University as a true Spartan.Following his education, Tim met the love of his life, Noreen Mahoney, the future Mrs. Connors. The two were young and grew together to forge an inseparable bond of love, with Tim adoring his wife everyday. The marriage would also create Tim's greatest pride and joy... his three sons. Although Tim was very busy with General Motors, he always found the time to travel and create memories with his sons and wife. There were many ski trips, and the annual Northern Michigan trip which included fishing and hunting for frogs. While at Michigan State, Tim studied engineering and graduated with his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1983 and later furthered his studies towards his Master's Degree. Tim went to work for General Motors where he was placed in many different positions and many different locales including, Detroit, Lansing, Indiana, Mexico, Germany, as well as many stops in between. However, the Connors family found Rochester, Michigan the place to be their home base. Tim could never sit still, he was the consummate task master. Tim was always working around the house, yard, or pool. When Tim was not completing tasks, he had many hobbies which included golfing, bicycling, skiing, riding his motorcycle, and recently playing tennis with his wife. Fitness was also important to Tim as he recently competed in a mini-triathlon and was working toward another. He had other passions too, Spartan football, Red Wings hockey, and his salt water fish tank. The Connors' home always seemed to be the entertainment hub for family and friends - Noreen and Tim made the best duo for entertaining. Noreen always made sure all the food was just right and plentiful, and Tim ensured that everyone had a full drink and was enjoying themselves. Also, the music had to be just right for the event... if it were Tim, it had to be classic Rock n Roll from his iPod playlist.Family was the paramount focus of Tim's life... he made sure his sons understood the importance of family and protecting your loved ones. Tim taught his sons the value of love through hard work and discipline, and that anything was possible if you put your mind to it. He also instilled the value of a firm Catholic, Christian upbringing. Tim's faith was a very important guiding element in his life. Tim's sons were always learning from their father and much was learned on the many exotic trips that included Turkey, Russia, Egypt, Sweden, France, Spain, Switzerland, Greece, Poland, the Czech Republic, London, as well as living in Mexico and Germany.Tim's second family was General Motors; he was ever so proud of the company and all that it afforded him over the many years he spent working there. Tim attained the position as Chief Engineer of Manufacturing, a title that could never fully explain all that Tim gave to GM. His lists of titles transitioned many times through the years, however his co-workers would define Tim as a true and fair leader. He completed several Executive Leadership programs with GM, however he just loved working for the company, building great cars and the best trucks. Additionally, if you were a friend and did not drive a GM vehicle, Tim was going to do his best to get you into one of "his" vehicles.Tim was the beloved husband of Noreen (nee: Mahoney) Connors, and is the cherished father of Michael, Matthew, and Ryan Connors. He is survived by his siblings, Joseph (Janet) Connors, Catherine Gotfredson, Michael (Cindy) Connors, and Brian (Elizabeth) Connors. Tim was the dear son in-law of Sharon (Jack) Wilson and is further survived by many loving family members and friends. Visitation for Timothy Connors will be Friday May 29th, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren, Michigan. Mr. Connors will lie in state Saturday 11:30am at St. Andrew Catholic Church until the time of the Funeral Mass at 12 Noon. Celebrating the Liturgy will be Monsignor Michael Hrydziuszko. Interment will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery, Oakland Township, Michigan.
