Robert Bruce Olsen, age 89, of Warren, Michigan passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born August 6, 1933 in Manistique, Michigan to the late Gladwin Olsen and the late Ina (nee: Jones) Olsen.
With Thanks and Praise from a grateful Nation we pay homage to Robert for his sacrifices that he made while serving in the United States Army. He wore his uniform with pride and admiration to his country that he loved.
While serving in the military, Robert married the love of his life, Margene. On July 9, of 1955 his beautiful bride walked down the aisle so that the two could profess their love before God and all of their family and friends. The young couple moved to Warren and settled in to a small but growing community to make a home for them and their soon to be family.
Robert enjoyed many things like golfing, bowling, some good ole U of M football, watching the Detroit Tigers and Lions play, but most of all he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. Yet with all that has been shared about the meaningful aspects of Robert's life, none of it could hold a candle to the love and affection he held for his grandchildren.
A loving husband, a caring father, and certainly a doting Papa, Robert's absence leaves a chasm that may seem difficult to span, but the love he leaves is the bridge that is sure to fill the gap. For all that knew this unique and genuine man, reflections on the many ways he blessed and influenced the lives around him are bound to bring a smile, a laugh, and a warm feeling inside. May he rest in peace.
He was the beloved husband of the late Margene. Loving father of Sue (Mark) Kvocka, Jill DeCaussin, Rob (Anita) Olsen, and Jeannie (Kurt) Northrup. Devoted grandfather of Alex, Brianna, Gina, Jason, Tyler, Kate and Anna. Brother of Pete (the late Eunice) Olsen, Audrey (the late Dick) Herbst, Karen Dottor, Judy (Earl) Fischer, the late Gladys (the late Paul) LaFord, and the late Helen (the late Bob) Werner. He was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, a devoted care-giver Gina Crooker and his fur-baby BO (A true best friend to man).
A Celebration of Life will be held for Robert at 12:00 p.m. followed by Military Honors and fellowship until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2022 at the Century Banquet Center, 33204 Maple Lane Dr., Sterling Heights, MI 48312.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd, Warren.
