Robert was born and raised on Detroit’s east side. He was the youngest of 5 children. In 1953, he enlisted in the United States Navy and worked as an electrician. After his time in the Navy, Robert started an apprenticeship at General Motors where he became a tool and die maker until his retirement 44 years later. In 1960 he married the love of his life, Diane, and moved to Warren. They spent 60 loving years together and had 3 wonderful children.
Robert was strong in his faith, always reading the Bible and praying the Rosary. He and Diane were active members at St. Mark Catholic Church in Warren for 60 years. He recently received an award with the Knights of Columbus #3129 for his longtime membership. In his leisure time, Robert enjoyed fishing, watching the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and Lions games. He also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, scratching off his lottery tickets, investing in the stock market, and he loved to dance,...being especially fond of polka music. Robert loved telling stories of his time in the Navy—a highlight of his young adult life.
Most of all, Robert loved spending time with his family. He would look forward to when the grandkids would come over so they could build things together and talk. The time spent with Robert will forever be cherished. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally by all who knew him.
Robert was the beloved husband of Diane. Loving father of Gregory (Natasha), Michelle (David) Lachajewski, and the late Kevin. Cherished grandfather of Deanna, Nathan, Nicholas, and Matthew.
Robert will lie In State on Tuesday, February 2nd from 9:00 am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 9:30 am at St. Mark Catholic Church, 4401 Bart Avenue in Warren, Michigan.
