Born in West Virginia, Ordie moved to Michigan to work at the Ford Motor Company, where he became a proud member of the United Auto Workers (UAW). Known for his strong work ethic, he rarely missed a day of work, dedicating himself to providing for his family.
Ordie was married to his beloved wife, Dorothy, for nearly 70 wonderful years until her passing in April 2024. Their marriage stood as a shining example of love and commitment, serving as an inspiration to their children and all who knew them.
In his spare time, Ordie enjoyed woodworking and tending to his yard, where he cultivated a variety of vegetables at their home in Detroit. After retiring from Ford after 25 years, he cherished quiet days at home, often watching his favorite cowboy shows. Ordie will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ordie was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy. Loving father of Sheila, Steve, and Kelvin. Adored grandfather of John, Paul, Amanda, Katherine, Wesley, Gregory, and Elisabeth. Treasured great-grandfather of Lydia, Alice, Jonas, Kyalie, Ila, Samuel, Eva, Wesley, Edie, and Quinn.
Visitation for Ordie will be held on Thursday, October 10th from 4-8pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoehnerr Rd., Warren, MI. His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 11th at 10am at the Funeral Home.
