Loving husband; father of Matthew J. Stevens (Ashley Cobb) of Spring Hill, TN; brother of David (Cheryl) Styczynski; grandfather of Haile Payge, Joshua Matthew and Jack Cohen Stevens; uncle to Jennifer, Michael D., Michelle and Joseph Styczynski. He is also survived by Quinton, Christian and Carson Black, Susan (Gillan) Stevens Greif, Peggy (Miller) Rowden Stevens, several cousins and many friends and associates. Mr. Stevens was born in Detroit, MI on August 1, 1949 to the late Michael A. and Anna F. (Kanik) Styczynski. Grandson of the late Joseph M. and Mary (Cierp) Styczynski (of Detroit from Latyczyn, Poland), and the late Joseph M. and Mark (Racek) Kanik (of New Salem, PA from Hranovnica, Slovakia). He was a graduate of De La Salle Collegiate HS '67, the University of Michigan (BSME '71) and Wayne State University (MBA '74), and a licensed professional engineer in Michigan and Ohio. He retired in 2006 from DTE Energy, after 35 years, where he held several positions, represented the company as a member of several state and national energy technology associations to advance alternative and renewable energy development, and lead the company’s alternative energy programs. After retiring from DTE Energy, Mr. Stevens became the Co-Director of Ohio's Wright Center for Photovoltaic Innovation and Commercialization heading the University of Toledo and Bowling Green University nodes, and later joined Advanced Distribution Generation (ADG) as Director of Michigan Operations. He was a member of the Grand Council of Trigon Fraternity (Tau Gamma Nu) since 1977, served as past president and was elected to lifetime Emeritus status. He was also a member of Dignity Detroit.
Mr. Stevens will have visitation at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, in Warren, on Thursday, September 12th and Friday, September 13th from 4pm until 8pm. There will be a Rosary held on Friday at 7pm. Mr. Stevens will lie in state on Saturday, September 14th from 9:30am until time of Funeral Mass at 10am at St Hyacinth Church. Burial to take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Twp. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Trigon Scholarship Fund at the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation.
