Nancy Ann Schmid, age 85 of Warren, died Saturday, December 19, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones at home. She was born June 17, 1930 in Detroit, daughter of the late Charles and the late Wanda (nee: Taylor) Dixon. After tending to her family and making sure the house was in order, Nancy could often be found enjoying the listening pleasures of her favorite music,…or, perhaps, the quiet escape of being curled up with a good book, as she was an avid reader. As for a bit more invigorating entertainment, Nancy was a devout fan and supporter of her favorite "boys of summer," the Detroit Tigers. A lover of the Great American Sport of baseball, she lived through some of the Tigers' exemplary years and experienced many-a-sporting afternoon rooting on the boys in the Old English "D." Yet of all the things she enjoyed the most, some of her dearest and greatest memories were those created and shared with her loved ones at the family cottage in Big Rapids, Michigan. There was just something special about exchanging the concrete jungle for a piece of God's country in one of Michigan's scenic hamlets. But whether for Big Rapids, or any other destination, simply being with family and friends afforded Nancy the sweetest joys she could ever hope for. Family meant the world to her, and every moment spent in their presence was an affirmation of the blessings in her life.A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Nancy leaves behind a legacy of love that will be cherished and held close with each reflection shared. She touched a multitude of hearts and souls in her journey through life, and was a true inspiration to those who were blessed to know her. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Nancy was the beloved wife of Walter. Dearest mother of Susan (Jerry) Cesulski, Nanci Milam, Trisia (Bill) Bramble, and the late Robert Schmid. Loving grandmother of seven, and great-grandmother of six. Devoted sister of Judy Ann Malo. Visitation for Nancy will be held Tuesday, December 22nd from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. Her Funeral Service will be conducted Wednesday, 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Walter Keller officiating. Please share memories of Nancy at her memory book above.
