Margaret Mitchell

Margaret was born on February 17, 1921 in Detroit, MI to Charles and Margaret Essian, the third of their eight children. On October 18, 1941 she married Marion "Stub" Mitchell. Together they had two daughters, Susan and Jeanne, along with three sons, James, Kenneth and Jon.

She worked in a defense plant during WW2 while her husband served in the Pacific. After the war, while her children were young, she was primarily a homemaker. Margaret became a widow very suddenly at age 49. She enrolled in an accelerated program and began a 20 year nursing career at age 50 to support and complete the raising of her family. Margaret retired at age 70. She was an avid lover of all music, especially the Big Bands, The Rat Pack, Motown, R&B and Rock & Roll. She loved baseball and her Detroit Tigers. The most important thing to Margaret was always her children. She was a lover of life with never a complaint; she always lived on the sunny side of the street.

Margaret enjoyed a very long life and was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margaret, her husband Marion (Stub), her 7 siblings, Francis (Owens) , Mary (Trombley), James, Edward, Alice (Walker), Patricia (Tunney), and Charles, along with her daughter Susan (McIntyre). She is survived by her children James Mitchell, Kenneth (Carol) Mitchell, Jon Mitchell and Jeanne Moses (Brandon), her son-in-law Angus McIntyre, sister-in-law Lori Essian, her 7 grandchildren, Blaize, Shawn, Clayton, Mitchell, Kristen, Jessica and Kaitlyn, three great-grandchildren with a fourth on the way, along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00pm with Scripture Service and Sharing of Memories at 7:00pm on Friday, May 6, 2022 at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd., Warren. (Schoenherr/Masonic). A Funeral Service for Marge will be at 10:00am on Saturday, May 7 at the Funeral Home. Visitation on Saturday will be at 9:30am until the time of the Funeral Service. A Graveside Service will be held after the Funeral Service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
