Ken, a native of Detroit, lived a full life of dedication, service, and love. In 1960, Ken answered the call of duty and served in the United States Army with honor and distinction, a commitment that spanned from 1960 to 1963. He continued his service to the nation in the Army Reserves, retiring after a remarkable 25 years. Ken’s devotion to his community was unwavering. For 27 years, he faithfully served as a Detroit City Police Officer, ensuring the safety and well-being of his fellow citizens. His dedication and passion for law enforcement led him to become a respected Sergeant in the Wayne County Sheriff Department, where he served 15 years.
Ken was also a Mason and belonged to Prince Edwin York Rite College #8, Mount Clemens Council R&SM #8, Shores Chapter #69, Mount Clemens Commandery #51, Composite Lodge #0499, Monroe Council #1, and Detroit Commandery #1.
Ken was married to his wife Stella, celebrating 34 loving years together this October 28th. Family was at the center of Ken’s heart. He adored his children and grandchildren, cherishing the moments they shared and leaving a legacy of love that will be cherished for generations to come.
In his leisure time, Ken enjoyed trips to the casino. He was also known for his daily walks of 8-12 miles, a testament to his dedication to a healthy lifestyle and a love for the outdoors. As we mourn Ken’s passing, we remember a man of honor, service, and love. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ken was the beloved husband of Stella. Loving father of Pamela (Nick) Neamonitis and Jennifer (Brian) Leader. Adored grandfather of Nicholas, Joseph, Samantha (Bryan Dupure), Cailley, and Ariana. Dear brother of Carl Kopp, Kathryn Silagi, George Kopp, and Gloria Rojewski. Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Emma Kopp; his brothers Henry Kopp and Gerald Kopp; and his sisters Irene Conrad and Sueanne Holbird; and beloved son Bryan Serda.
Visitation for Ken will be held on Friday, November 3rd from 3-8pm with a 7pm Masonic Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, MI 48093. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 4th at 10:30am with a visitation time starting at 9:30am at the Funeral Home. Entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.
