James Norman Thomas

James N. Thomas, age 83 of Warren, died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at home. He was born on January 16, 1931 in Grosse Pointe Farms, son of the late Aeron and the late Marjorie (nee: Lewis) Thomas.With thanks & praise from a grateful nation, we pay homage to James for his service to our country during the Korean War era. Having attained the rank of Corporal, he was a proud and valiant corpsman in the United States Marines. We honor James for the call to duty he so bravely served, and for doing his part to preserve the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today…because he was there.James was the beloved husband of Mary. Dear father of Lori (Richard) Olesiak, Lisa (John) Concrucci, and James M. (Wendy) Thomas. Loving grandfather of Zachary, Jillian, Olivia, Jennifer, Jason, Kristin, and great-grandfather of Veronica and Beckett. He was preceded in death by brothers, David and Mervyn.Visitation for Jim will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. He will lie in state on Thursday from 9:30am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10am at St. Florian Catholic Church, 2626 Poland Street in Hamtramck. Following Mass, the rendering of Military Honors will be presented in honor of James' service to the country, and he will ultimately take his final resting place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
