James Walter Stempnik

James Walter Stempnik, 70, of Warren, died Sunday, March 28, 2021. Jim was a family man, gardener and student of history. Father to Jim (Dana), Steve, John (Annette), Bob (Yvonne), Becky (Jeff), Tommy, Kenny (Cheryl), Shelly (Mike), Ricky (Amy), Billy and Adam. Loving husband to the late Patricia Ann Stempnik (nee Reddmann). The son of Joseph and Maxine Stempnik (nee Pryor), he was born on the east side of Detroit in 1950 and graduated from Nativity High School and the University of Detroit-Mercy. He worked as a specialized welder and retired in 2015. Mr. Stempnik was a member of the Hardy Plant Society and Ferndale Garden Club. He spent his days in his garden, reading, riding his bike, camping with his family and promising to make a long story short (but that is neither here nor there). Mr. Stempnik was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years and sons Tommy, Steve and Ken. Survived by grandchildren Steven, Michael, Justin, Derek, Aiden, Garrett, Alec, Lily, Wyatt and Riley; many nieces and nephews; and siblings Larry, Barbara, Mary and Louise. A funeral visitation is planned for 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 5, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home in Warren.
