James was born February 11, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to James Edward Sawyer and Jermaine Melton Sawyer. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Trudy Ball Sawyer. He is survived by his son, Jon Alan Sawyer and his loving companion, Meelike Pandis; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda Sass and Robert Sass; his niece and great-nephew, Nicole Sass and JB Sass; his stepdaughter, Donna Ball; his step-granddaughter and husband and their daughters, Raynie Reizen and Nick Reizen and MacKenzie and Harper Reizen. James was a veteran, having retired from the Air Force in 2003. He served in the Viet Nam war and in Operation Desert Storm, among many other overseas deployments. He was also retired from the U.S. Army Tank and Automotive Command, Warren, Michigan.
A Memorial Service for James will be held Thursday, December 29th at 2:00pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, MI 48093.
