Family was always at the center of Dorothy’s world, and she prioritized her loved ones. Married to the love of her life, Kenneth, for over 60 years until his passing in 2016, their union stood as a testament to the beauty of a strong Catholic marriage and a role model to their family. Together, they shared their wisdom with engaged couples through marriage counseling at the church, helping to nurture countless relationships.
Dorothy was a dedicated member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church for over 57 years, where her strong faith shone brightly. As a lector, she shared her passion for the church, inspiring many with her devotion. A fierce advocate for the Right to Life, Dorothy served as President of the Southeast Michigan chapter, tirelessly fighting for the rights of unborn children. Her commitment to justice and compassion was evident in all aspects of her life.
Dorothy also had a profound appreciation for the arts. As a docent at the Detroit Institute of Arts for many years, she shared her love of art with others, enriching the lives of those who had the pleasure of experiencing it through her eyes.
Dorothy was well known for her marvelous sense of humor and her unwavering positivity. Even in her final days, her lighthearted spirit shone through, and bringing joy to those around her.
Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of faith, compassion, humor and a commitment to love and family.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth. Loving mother of Jeanne Nowak, John (Cheri), the late Mary Nowak, Paul, Peter (Renee), and Lawrence. Adored grandmother of Michael (Melissa), Nicole, Natalie, Zachary (Clare), Ryan, Katlyn, McKenna, Joseph, Charlee, and Alyssa. She also leaves behind her greatly appreciated caregiver, Glenda. Dorothy was predeceased by her brother Robert Murray and mother Stella Cox.
Visitation for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, November 6th from 4-8pm with a 7pm Scripture Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road in Warren. She will lie In State on Thursday, November 7th from 10:30am until the time of her Funeral Mass at 11am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Rd, Warren, MI.
