Dorothy Morrison, age 90, died November 24, 2019 in Southfield, Michigan. Dorothy was born May 29, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of the late Martin Wyrybkowski and the late Anna (nee: Slizinski) Wyrybkowski.
Dorothy was raised in Detroit where she attended and graduated from Sweetest Heart of Mary Catholic School. Following her schooling Dorothy worked as a busgirl within Creed's Cafeteria in Detroit, and later worked for Helm's Bindery. Eventually Dorothy found employment at the Roostertail Restaurant on the Detroit River working as a cashier.
Dorothy married very young and began a family shortly after her marriage. She lived on Detroit's eastside near Harper and Van Dyke, where she initially raised her children. Dorothy resided at several locations in Detroit mostly on the eastside, and also worked for a time as a teacher's aide at Trix Elementary School.
For her entire life Dorothy remained a very active and busy woman, raising her children, tending to her home, and hosting many holiday gatherings. For Dorothy her pride and joy in life was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She truly was the matriarch of the family and would offer herself up to babysit the grandchildren. When Dorothy was not caring for others she enjoyed crafting and making Christmas ornaments.
Dorothy cherished her family especially during the holidays. She relished in the fact that she could have everyone over to her home where she would make her many delicious meals. Of all the holidays Christmas was her favorite time to enjoy her own family along with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Little delights in life for Dorothy include shopping or playing scratch off tickets. She was not one to travel far or by plane, however she did enjoy traveling to Chicago and Mackinac Island.
As time carried forward, Dorothy continued to be the center and the foundation of her family. She would later move to a senior community in St. Clair, Michigan to be closer to her daughter. Dorothy lived in St. Clair from 1995 until 2014 where her quiet time was spent enjoying the St. Clair River. Eventually Dorothy moved into her daughter's home in Southfield... life and health issues forced Dorothy to slow down quite a bit in her twilight years, however her love for her family never did diminish.
